Placing an Order

You can place an order by email, telephone or by post. We will need to know:

  • your name, address, email address, and telephone number(s)
  • the type of basket you want
  • approximate dimensions* (see individual basket pages)
  • whether or not you can collect your basket, or where it needs to be sen.t
  • if you need it in a hurry (otherwise we ask you to allow us 4-8 weeks)

*If the dimensions are very important - PLEASE TELL US - we can then usually match them to within an inch or less; but please understand that basketmaking is a craft not an art-form!

We will then give you a fixed price for the basket itself. We might not be able to tell you the exact cost of delivery at this stage, but we can usually give a rough idea (see: "How to Pay - Package & Postage" below).

    How to Pay

Unless you are collecting your basket, the cost of your order is made up of the price for the basket itself and the price of package and postage or delivery. Either way, all orders need to be paid for in full before we let them go.

    Paying for your basket
The price of the basket itself is fixed when you order. If your basket is particularly large, we might ask you to make a deposit when you order. If you subsequently cancel your order your deposit might or might not be refunded, depending on how much time we have spent on your behalf, and whether or not we can sell your basekt to someone else.

    Package & Postage
Package and postage costs vary according to the size of the final parcel, your location and the urgency. In general, small baskets (e.g. bicycle baskets and shopping baskets) cost less than £10 to package and post; large baskets (e.g. shopping trolleys and dog baskets) usually cost £10-15.

    Final Price
We will give you the final price (including delivery) once the basket has been finished, boxed, and weighed. If we're posting or delivering your basket we'll then ask you to send a cheque when it's ready. Once your cheque has cleared we'll send your basket. If you are collecting your basket please ensure that you have the means to pay for it when you come.

You can pay in pounds sterling, in cash or by cheque (payable to "L. Blows" and supported by a UK banker's card); we accept credit cards through PayPal, and PayPal money transfers (see Payments page).

    Delivery Options

There are three options for getting your basket: collection, post, and delivery.

    Collection
Where possible we encourage our customers to come and collect their baskets. Not only do we then get to meet the people we have been working for, which we enjoy, but you get to see your basket before you pay for it. It also avoids the delay involved in posting and clearing cheques.

    Post
We send baskets by Parcel Force; they usually arrive within 48 hours. Small orders can be sent first class if required. We usually pack small baskets in their boxes with polystyrene chips, but larger baskets are often wrapped in bubble wrap before being boxed. Some very large baskets are too big for boxes and are therefore just cocooned in bubblewrap.

    Delivery
Occasionally it is possible for us to deliver an oversized basket, but we will charge mileage at 50p per mile.
